In addition to precise control of spherical distortion that greatly improves bokeh quality, the FE 20mm F1.8 G's 9-blade circular aperture helps achieve silky smooth bokeh and natural-looking highlights that are distinctive of G lenses.

Realistic reproduction of point sources

Two AA (Advanced Aspherical) elements and three ED (Ultra-Low Dispersion) glass elements minimize sagittal flare and reproduce point light sources accurately and without color smear.

Two XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motors keep up with the high-speed rhythm of today's most advanced camera bodies, benefiting from all the speed, precision and tracking to capture the most dynamic objects. New control algorithms drive the lens's large focus group smoothly and lag-free for fast, quiet, and low-shake AF.

Excellent close-up performance, even in selfies

Aside from 20mm being a fantastic focal length for selfies, this lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 0.19m when used in AF mode and even 0.18m when focusing manually. It's a great option for gimbal or grip mounting, whether it's for capturing selfies or other objects.

Compact lens for smooth operation and high reliability

The focus hold button, focus mode switch, aperture ring, and other controls are designed and positioned for smooth and easy operation. Alternative functions can be assigned to the focus hold button in the camera menu. The fluorine coating of the front lens element repels water and dirt, and the lens' dust and moisture resistant design allows it to withstand harsh outdoor conditions.
